Good times = wake-boarding time

Nothing beats a good wake-boarding session on a beautiful Sunday morning. :)

Chillness to the max

Weather today was unexpectedly sunny and warm, even the water was just slightly chilly. Like I said, October is the best month of the year. ;) Coach said I can learn to jump next time! Can't wait! But then, might have to put it off until next year boo! :(

BOOKSBOOKSBOOKS

Pictures of Max Freeman and Margaret Singer (the duo behind Unusually Fine)'s boutique photography studio. I swear, books are not merely pages to read.

Pastapastapasta

Everyone knows I love pasta. There's definitely something special about this form of carbs that makes it irresistible. Having heard a lot about Linguini Fini since it opened earlier in the year, food buddies and I have finally decided to pay a visit on Friday night as the start of our frenzy weekend escape.

Appetizers:
Caprese/Fried Calamari/Cherry Tomato, Mozzarella, Garlic Flatbread/Mussels/Salami, Goat Cheese, Pickled Chilis Flatbread/Artisan Salumi Platter

Mains:
Arthur Ave. Linguini with Clams/Spaghetti Carbonara/Fazzoletti 'Nose to Tail Bolo'/On Top of Spaghetti/Fettucine Funghi

Dessert:
Tiramisu/Hot Chocolate Affogato

Homemade mozzarella for the Caprese yuuuum!
Couldn't resist the calamari despite my cholesterol alert :/
Their flat bread is a must try!
Featured: Fettucine Funghi and Fazzoletti 'Nose to Tail Bolo'
The On Top of Spaghetti
Tiramisu!

Just realized that we did have quite a bit for 6 people. No wonder we were all so stuffed by the end of the meal. But when it comes to food, definitely the more the merrier! :)

I liked the relaxed and chilled ambience of the restaurant, how it's the go-to place for an after-work drink followed by a nice dinner. It works for a fun date as well as a big party group. Food wise, we loved certain dishes, but some were a little bit on the iffy side. Personal favourite: the caprese, flat bread, fettucine funghi and tiramisu. The not-so-memorable ones: spaghetti carbonara and the linguini with clams.

Customer service was great though, apart from our server being a little pushy. Incident during the night: we had our second round of orders as another friend joined us half way. Then out of nowhere the fettucine funghi appeared on our table (which we did not ordered). The manager swung by and said 'it's okay, it's on the house then!'. Double thumbs up for free food! :)

Interesting fact for Linguini Fini: they take reservations only if you have a party of 6 or above. We're coming back in a couple of weeks for my birthday dinner! Time to try out the remaining dishes!

Check out their site here!

I got a new camera and have been testing it out! That's why the pictures above are all on the yellow mellow side as I am still learning how to use it properly. But I am definitely amazed by how it can capture dust so well in broad daylight, proven by the picture below. I guess it also means it's time to start doing a massive clean for my room....

Last but not least, my first eBay purchase! The 'rock paper scissors' ring!

Take that! ;)

A literate oasis

Just scouted this second hand bookstore in Sai Kung and has officially become my favourite place in the area!

Also spotted this early edition of one of my top 5 books right before exiting the store! A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. My eyes lit up the moment I saw them and I totally wanted to hug the owner for making my day.

If you're ever in the neighbourhood, go check it out! They also collect your old books!!

Lights will guide you home...

At Piazza San Marco, Venezia

I have always envied those who can express themselves explicitly. You know, the ability to yell at someone when you are mad, to state the facts as to what is making you upset and such. They know deep down that the counter-party will put up with their anger, regardless of it being rational or not, understand their point and provide them with the comfort and kind words they were looking for.

It is understandable to put your own concerns and wants before everyone else's. This is something that I definitely need to work on. Just to prevent myself from getting stomped on, again. Simply catering to other's needs and neglecting what your mind tells you is a big fat no-no. For any parents out there who might be reading this, don't tell your children they're not good enough. They might not be up to par, but that's who they are! Don't get me wrong, I love mine in my own awkward way (totally not conventional...).

There are so many times where I've got beaten down and tossed my perspective into the garbage can as I did not want to upset the other person. In various different types of relationships too. Must learn to speak up for myself. Must learn to speak up for myself. Must learn to speak up for myself.

Your weaknesses and flaws are what make you who you are though.

So, for the initiators and achievers, not having a say does not mean no say at all. We simply have a different channel for expressing emotions. For example, sarcasm. You can hide behind it and attack your enemy simultaneously. Best weapon ever.

Not really sure what my point here is anymore. Like I said, I am not a man of words. So many thoughts racing through my head but none leaving anything concrete for me to grasp. Hence all the gibberish here. And it's like, everything will explode some day and you're left alone to pick the pieces up yourself.

However, I'm a strong believer that, with everything held constant, time is the best healer. Works for all types of pain, be it hurt, regret, mourn, etc. But, in my world, serenity is also key; the process of recovering in a virus-free environment. A patient would not heal unless the tumor is completely removed.

And this is where I wish you could just go away and leave me alone. You're blocking my light.

Goodbye...

My chair after 4 years of abusive usage.
Or maybe it secretly knows that I want a new one.
But I swear, I didn't gain weight.

Making a difference

This is too good not to share. Perfectly demonstrates how creativity is key to everything.
