Older or wiser?

One year olderwiser for Miss W (even though that is not her in the pic haha)!!

An exceptionally long dinner (over 3 hours) at Entourage on a quiet Sunday night to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend. Was actually glad that there were only 3 tables (including us) because we have pretty much dominated half of the restaurant as our backdrop (more on that in a bit). I mean, this is what happens when you lump a handful of girls together in a nice restaurant with a tummy full of fancy French cuisine!

The giagantic rose as the centre piece got us very intrigued...

We started off with (clockwise from top left):
1) Fresh steak tartare
2) Snails and spinach ravioli with garlic cream
3) Crab Martini with pink grapefruit and avocade mousse (personal favourite out of the three!)
4) Warm scallops salad with grilled asparagus and cured ham, sauce vierge

I liked the scallops so much an iPhone picture was called for ;)

Followed by (once again, clockwise from top):
5) Stuffed chicken breast with garlic mousse, portobello mushroom, chicken juice
6) Wild mushroom risotto, crispy parmesan (the parmesan actually caught me off guard a little bit haha)
7) Pan fried black cod fillet, crushed potatoes and meat juice

Was a fan of the cod fillet!

And then:
8) Crème brûlée with bourbon vanilla pods (no pictures as we were too busy digging in)
9) Hot chocolate fondant served with hazelnut ice cream (the ice cream was ahhhhh. I miss it already)
10) Thin apple almond tart with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce (not a huge apple dessert fan normally but boy this was gooooood)

Okay, now I see why we were so full towards the end. Alas, can always work out later ;) (IF that ever happens)

And courtesy of the huge pillar blocking the other tables from seeing what we were doing, we started indulging in our own little world envying the apartment across the street and taking some of the random-est pictures :)

My favourite of the night! Somewhat scandalous but not quite there ;)

All in all, Entourage was leaning towards the pricier side but would recommend to others if French cuisine is what's on your mind. There were definitely some mindblowing dishes!

Last but not least, I can finally post what I made for Miss W :)

Inspired by the amazing Geneva. Click here for her tutorial!

Good night everyone!

First sewing attempt!

As I mentioned here, I've finally found the time to finish sewing up the skirt I altered a couple of weeks ago!

Before...

During...

After!

Not sure if you can see it clearly, but it has been shortened (even though it's only 3 inches). Anyhoo, a big pat on my back for my very first attempt. Not to mention I snapped the needle half way through the sewing (when I switched to serged hems actually), and it took me over 1.5 hours to fix it as I had to go in blind. So glad I took a picture of it before disassembling. Ah, I guess you learn something new everyday.

Definitely got a bit braver after this and already thinking of more projects to try out in the future! :)

5 DIYs

Okay, I admit I am on a DIY roll now. I'm currently going through various DIY blogs (e.g. a pair & a spare, A Beautiful Mess, FreePeople, Oh So Lovely Vintage, Sincerely, Kinsey, etc) and I can't help but to share all these amazing ideas. I cannot wait to try some of them! 5 DIYs at a time!

1) Natural dyeing with vegatables i.e. beets and onions!

When you believe

Who knows what miracle one can achieve when you believe?

Such a great loss :(

Before...

Just a little sneak peak of my on-going project. It's nothing compared to all the amazing DIY people out there but you know, accomplishing things provides adrenaline, even though it's just one baby step at a time.

So last weekend I chopped off my thrifted skirt (got it for hkd20 only!) and I need to squeeze in some precious time (work is awful this week) in order to mate with my new sewing machine. So hopefully the 'after' pic can come soon!

Did I mention I haven't touched a sewing machine since grade 8?? This will be exciting and interesting...

Before...

During....

Must do part 2 asap! It's funny how a few friends thought I was going to sew a dress when I just casually draped the cut fabric onto my mannequin. Oh, and my mannequin is almost 2 years old and this weekend was the first time she was more than just a decor! I felt so domestic sitting on the floor with scissors and measuring tape around my neck ;)
